The Citadel of Râşnov is the most well-known touristic attraction from the city which carries the same name.  It is also known as “The peasant Citadel Râşnov”, and it is a national monument belonging to the A class. 

The only access path into the citadel is the currently used road, which was dividing into other three roads:  one towards the fair, one towards the road between Cristian and Brașov, and one towards Cetății Quay.  The field around the citadel, now covered with trees, used to be only an empty cliff covered only with wild rose bushes.  Because of this, the place was called before The Valley of Roses.  In 1388 appeared the first documentary proves of the settlement, under the name of Villa Rosarum, or Rosendorf (  The Village of Roses.  )

Fagaras Fortress is the most important monument of Fagaras, one of the largest in the country and even Europe.

                The feudal Castle in Fagaras, whose construction began in the late fourteenth century and continued through successive additions until the middle of the eighteenth century, was preceded by a wooden fort, surrounded by a moat and wave of land, archaeological attested to XII century.

                The ancestors of the Lipizzan can be traced to approximately A.D. 800. Sambata de Jos is today the largest Lipizzaner studs farm in Europe. You can enjoy the horses performing for their audience for over an hour every day. You can also take a ride with a carriage in the mountain areas of Fagaras.

The “ASTRA” Museum of Traditional Folk Civilization (Romanian: Muzeul Civilizaţiei Populare Tradiţionale “ASTRA”) is located in the Dumbrava Forest, 3 km south of Sibiu, on the road towards Răşinari, and is easily accessible by car, bus or tramway

Disposing of an area of 0.96 square kilometres, it is the largest open air museum in Romania and one of the largest in Central and Eastern Europe. It contains houses and workshops of the traditional Romanian folk culture from the pre-industrial era. Over 300 houses and other buildings are situated in the forest around two artificial lakes with over 10 km of walkways between them.

The exhibits are organised into six thematic groups:

  • food production and animal husbandry.
  • production of raw materials.
  • means of transportation.
  • manufacture of household objects.
  • public buildings.
  • an exposition of monumental sculpture.

According to the World Records Academy, the Palace is the world’s largest civilian building with an administrative function, most expensive administrative building, and heaviest building.[3]

                The Palace was designed and nearly completed by the Ceaușescu regime as the seat of political and administrative power. Nicolae Ceaușescu named it the People’s House (Casa Poporului).

                The Palace measures 270 m (890 ft) by 240 m (790 ft), 86 m (282 ft) high, and 92 m (302 ft) underground. It has 1,100 rooms, 2 underground parking garages and is 12 stories tall, with four underground levels currently available for the general public and in use, and another four in different stages of completion. The floorspace is 340,000 m2 (3,700,000 sq ft).
